2025 U.S. Van Tour: Lake Charles Louisiana
Crying Eagle Brewery
When I get off of this mountainYou know where I want to go
Straight down the Mississippi River
To the Gulf of Mexico
To Lake Charles, Louisiana
Little Bessie, girl I once knew
She told me just to come on by
If there's anything that she could do
Well, I'm still not an expert on it, but at least now I have visited. As Beth and I travelled from Austin Texas to Fairhope Alabama, we spent the night at Crying Eagle Brewery. The only other parts of Lake Charles we saw were a McDonald's for breakfast and a gas station. I can tell you though, The Brewery ROCKS. If you are ever in town, it is a MUST.
There are four distinct area in which you can enjoy a brew. Tucked in one corner is a "Reading Room" which offers comfort and intimacy.
There are are two indoor large seating areas. The first is located on the ground floor and this is also the area that hosts the bar and cafe. We ate orders of corm and crab fritters. The first order was so good we went back for a second. We also met and sat with the other RV couple that was spending the night. The second indoor area was a mezzanine upstairs. I would characterize it as an overflow area.
In addition to these seating areas, there is an outside concert venue. On the evening of our visit, a Cajun Blue Grass Band provide the entertainment.
This is the area in which visiting RVers can park overnight if you have a Harvest Host membership.
We were not sure what event was being celebrated, but as we were eating dinner with our side sliding door open on the van, we were treated to a fireworks show! Needless to say, we enjoyed our first visit to Lake Charles.
