Great Loop: Taking a Break in Killarney
The World's Largest Canoe Paddle Resides in Killarney
We had been away from Marinas for quite a while as we explored Georgian Bay. It was time to stop and get caught up on laundry and have some connectivity so we could check in with family and friends, check email and other tasks which require the internet.
The Killarney Mountain Lodge is a great place to do so. This is a oasis of civilization in the wonderfully scenic, remote, and wild country of northern Lake Huron. It is also the the landmark which separates the North Channel from Georgian Bay.
Groceries are expensive here, so we will wait till Little Current to re-provision. There is a LCBO (liquor store) and a general store if you need some items.
Our stay was a nice break. We accomplished our goals and were ready to take on the remote challenge of the North Channel.
Nice! Your float plane in front of your Cabin/Boat House
Yes, the waters are shared by all manner of craft
Killarney may be a small, remote town, but it has a good bakery that serves great coffee. It also has a good breakfast and lunch menu.
Do you notice the pay phone?
