Great Loop: Fenelon Falls

Mike at Lock 34 - Fenelon Falls

Here are the falls from which Fenelon Falls is named
Early settlers built water powered saw and grist mills at this site
The town grew up around the source of power

Beth enjoyed meeting some of the local wildlife

Mike Enjoyed meeting the Pie Shack!

Just down the street was the Porch Light Bakery
I had a meat pie and and cranberry/orange scone with coffee for breakfast

Inside the Porch Light Bakery

The town Museum was a center of activity in the community.
Completely run by volunteers, they not only exhibited the history of the community but had many participative displays for the youngsters of the town.

The Museum grounds were planted and maintained by the volunteers.

This is the original first classroom in town.
A volunteer dressed up as the original school teacher would conduct activities with kids that visited.

This activity was set up outside the Museum.
It involved buckets of water and canals.
What kid could resist!

There were many homes in town from the early 1900's.
All were well maintained.
I tried to imagine the stories they could tell if they could talk...

I'm sure many generations have enjoyed sitting and reading in this enclosed, south facing front porch.
I can imagine reading the Sunday paper with hot tea or coffee and a fresh baked scone.

These kids rode their horses into town.

As the light fades from the sky, the Fenelon sign comes alive
So do the "ice cream" eaters!
Kawartha is the brand of the local regional ice cream - it is delicious!

Mike and Beth taking a sunset stroll.

Beth stands by Amy Marie.
We had a quiet night on the lock wall.

Good Night from Fenelon Ontario Canada!
