Great Loop: Lakefield Ontario
A large group of canoe voyagers spent the night with us at Lakefield Lock
Lakefield was our first stop after Peterborough. We arrived in the late afternoon. Once we were settled on the wall we walked into town with the crew of Elizabeth Marie to find a spot for dinner. The Greek Restaurant looked good, and it was. Fully satiated, we walked continued our walk around town. The grocery store was nearby so Lakefield is a good spot to reprovision.
We passed a house that had repurposed their canoe into a raised garden!
We also found some nice Adirondack chairs set up along the sidewalk in the downtown area.
Nice spot to relax or rest or just people watch!
A home decorated their front yard with a Gnome Garden.
Yes, it was a Gnome home!
And the Gnomes were home
We returned to the boats in time for sunset
The lock chamber also served as a reflection pond
Amy Marie on the upstream lock wall.
We departed early the next morning for the town of Bobcaygeon
We followed a short section of canal that bypassed the falls and rapids in Lakefield.
