Great Loop: Mile Hammock Anchorage, North Carolina
Sunset in Mile Hammock Bay
April 28th, 2022
Mile Hammock Bay is a good anchorage mid-way between Southport and Beaufort North Carolina. It is on the Atlantic Intra-Coastal Waterway and is included as part of Camp Lejeune, a major Marine Corps amphibious warfare training base. Training exercises will occasionally result in the closing of the anchorage and the adjacent section of the intracoastal waterway. To prevent disappointment, you can call ahead to Range Control and ask them if they have any exercises planned during your stay. They can be reached by phone at (910) 451-3064. Range Control Boats also monitor VHF channels 16 and 82.
