Great Loop: Melbourne Florida

March 2nd, 2022

We had been tracking the travels of a high school friend for a couple of weeks.  He had sailed from his home in Chesapeake Bay to Florida to get out of the cold weather.  Today looked like the day we were finally going to catch up with him.

We could follow the progress of his sailboat via his AIS transponder.  So we gradually gained on him and eventually were right behind him.  That's we I call on the radio to let him know he had a trailer....

We anchored on the east side of the Atlantic Intra-Coastal Waterway for the night.  As soon as the hooks were set we dinghied over to Delphinus and talked until it was time to head back to Amy Marie for some nourishment.  It was wonderful to see him and even better dredging up tales of time past.  Every thing considered, we were lucky to survive our formative years and be able to reminisce about the 60 years since we first met.
